Introducing: The Sensory Code

Hello my amazing butterfly besties,

Welcome to my first newsletter post of my brand new Newsletter publication: The Sensory Code.

Idk if you've noticed, but social media has been a literal dumpster fire in the last month. Who are we kidding... even life outside social media has felt extremely... stressful? Chaotic? Maybe this image will explain it better:

With all of these huge changes to social media, censored posts and a complete 180 of the algorithm, many of you have been leaving meta platforms (I don't blame you), and I have also noticed a change in the way my normal email campaigns get delivered.

TLDR; I don't have enough control over how I get to connect with you- my VIPs, my village and community I've built connections with over the last few years. This newsletter is an attempt to cohesively and consistently continue to share the education and value I know you need and deserve.

In this new weekly newsletter publication, I'll give you a peek into my 1:1 coaching caseload, so you can learn how to start viewing behavior through a nervous system lens, AND exactly what to do about it.

Here's what to expect

If you subscribe to this newsletter, you can expect the following 4 emails in each month (1 email a week):

  • 1st email of the month is a "meet my friend" introduction email that will introduce you to a child (inspired by previous coaching or clinic clients, with parent permission to share) which will include things like their age and the main areas of need. This email will also give you a preview of some of my initial breakdowns of each behavior, including some strategies and solutions I recommended.
  • 3 following emails the rest of the month will dive deep into one of the specific behaviors and/or strategies with even more insights and education.

When you subscribe to The Sensory Code, you will be notified when a new newsletter is available to read (it will land directly in your inbox)

What's the difference between this newsletter and other emails you receive from me?

For the most part, you won't hear from me in your emails unless you are a subscriber to this newsletter. If you are on my regular email list, but NOT a Sensory Code newsletter subscriber, I will occasionally email you when I have exciting announcements, like a new product or a training to share with you.

*Full transparency- right now I am trialing how this new newsletter style and structured content work out as a free, weekly newsletter.  I may at somepoint choose to put some content behind a paywall, or decide to end the newsletter series altogether. So... wanna come on this adventure with me? I'm not sure where this will take us, but I hope you'll join me!

Meeting a sensory seeker’s needs at home
We’ve talked about Jacob’s behaviors at school and some classroom supports, but his parents were just as desperate for ideas to make home life a little less chaotic. They shared these challenges: Struggles to get out the door on time in the mornings Big meltdowns when told “no” (like asking for TV before school) Constant bouncing, crashing, and moving roughly around the house—inj...
Classroom regulation and accommodations to prevent aggression
*this publication includes a few affiliate links*   Let’s jump right back into Jacob’s story.[Start at part 1 here, or catch up on part 2 here] Jacob’s parents were eager to try anything that might decrease his aggressive behaviors at his co-op preschool. Based on what we knew (that he seeks out proprioceptive input and dislikes imposed touch from peers), these are the starting accommodati...
Sensitive to touch, but rough in play
Welcome to part 2 of Jacob’s story, you can check out part 1 [here].   Jacob’s parents were doing their best to keep up with his big sensory cup and constant need for movement, but there also seemed to be big emotions tied up in that cup.   While some kids mask at school and save their meltdowns for home, others don’t discriminate—anyone nearby may witness it. That’s what was becoming a pr...
