Customized School Sensory Support Plan

 

 

You're already your child's biggest advocate for supports in the classroom, let me give you the tools and the muscle to help put things into action. 

 

By this time of year, you may have been receiving reports from teachers about your child's classroom behaviors such as

  • difficulty sitting still 
  • needing support to stay on task/follow instructions
  • difficulty with emotional regulation and social skills 
  • having meltdowns or big emotional explosions
  • avoiding tasks/activities/instructions 

 

If that sounds like your child, don't worry! I'm here to help. In our work together, we'll collaborate to decode the behaviors that are happening in the classroom.

 

Then I'll share some of my secret OT sauce ideas and ways to modify the environments or tasks so your child can feel successful and supported where they're at. I'll package this all up in a pretty bow so all you'll have to do is push "send" (or "print") to share it with your child's teacher/ team.

  • 📲[3] 45 minute, 1:1 zoom calls with me focused on learning about your child's sensory/learning needs and their current challenges in the classroom *All 3 calls must be redeemed before February 28th 2023*
  • 📧An email template that we can work on together to start the conversation with your child's teacher/staff about your child's strengths and areas of need in the classroom (which you can say was created with the insights of an Occupational Therapist, for clout of course 🤗)
  • 🌟1 customized PDF with a full customized sensory support plan that includes a strengths based, neurodiverse affirming way of highlighting your chld's areas of needs and specific recommendations of how they can be supported in the classoom. You can print this out and hand it directly to the teacher. 
  • 🔥1 customized social story focusing on one classroom related challenge your child experiences. You can print this out and read it to your child to help them understand the classroom expectations and what they can do. (I will continue editing this to your liking, unlimited edits until it suits your needs- will include photos that you provide me to include in the social story)

Working with Laura was so empowering. She gave really great suggestions I hadn’t thought of and helped me feel Heard and supported in what can feel like an isolating journey. After my call with Laura, I created some social stories, implemented some new emotional regulation tools with my son and built up our “heavy work” toolbox (and learned to keep it simple!!) and we are seeing improvement!
